Sample Requirements:
- Swab in aerobic transport media;
- Urine in a tightly sealed sterile plastic jar;
- Tissue in a sterile container with a few drops of sterile saline;
- Fluid in a sterile container;
- Skin scrapings, hair follicles, or nails with nail bed scrapings in
a sealed fungal envelope or sterile container
Turn Around Time:
Aerobic Culture: 2 business days for negative results,
longer depending on growth

Fungal Culture: 14 business days for negative results,
longer depending on growth (up to 21 days)
Collection Protocol:
Samples for invasive systemic fungi should also be submitted for Histopathology or Cytology
