BREED DESCRIPTION
Springer and Cocker crosses were introduced to get rid of the exaggerations and restore the breed to former type and
working ability. This is how the Field Spaniel was created.
The Field Spaniel is fun loving, independent and
intelligent with an easygoing attitude. It has a great affinity for human companionship.
The Field Spaniel is
fairly active and playful. Fanciers claim he makes a fine family pet for suburban or country living.
The Field
Spaniel stands around 18 in, 46 cm and weighs from 35-50 lb.
The medium-length coat is flat or slightly waved
and sufficiently dense to resist weather. It is silky in texture with a good gloss. On the chest, belly and behind the
legs there is setter-like feathering.
Frequent brushing to remove dead hair will keep the coat shiny. Some
tidy-up trimming on the head, throat and feet is required.
