C128-Canine Coat and Nose Color Test
Dandie Dinmont Terrier |
|
DNA TEST |
Dandie Dimont Terrier occur in only two colors: mustard and pepper. The gene that controls this is the agouti signal peptide or A locus. Danide Dimont Terriers that are pepper are at/at at the agouti locus and those that are mustard have at least one ay allele. Mustard dogs that are ay/ay are not visibly distinguishable from those that are ay/at so a DNA test may be useful to determine if only mustard pups will be born or if there is a chance of both mustard and pepper pups being born. |
