Canine Coat and Nose Color Testing

C128-Canine Coat and Nose Color Test
French Brittany Spaniel

DNA TEST

French Brittanies occur in several colors: black, brown, orange, and fawn, all with white. They can also be and-tan and such dogs are usually called tricolor. Several genes and the interaction thereof contribute to these colors. All French Brittanies have white spotting. The modifier genes causing the amount of white patches is not known. One gene that is necessary for black or brown coat color is K, and the allele responsible is KB. French Brittanies that are tricolor or fawn do not have a KB, but are ky/ky. Dogs that are orange could be any genotype at the K locus since they are e/e and this masks the effects of K. Tricolor dogs must have an at/at genotype at the agouti locus. Fawn dogs have at least one ay allele. Fawn testing is available at an extra charge of $_____.

Any single tested allele - $55.00*
Each additional allele - $20.00*
