C128-Canine Coat and Nose Color Test
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel |
|
DNA TEST |
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel occur in four colors: black-and-tan, tricolor, ruby, and blenheim. Two genes are responsible for these colors. All Cavaliers are at/at but black-and-tan is only visible in the presence of at least one E allele. The e/e genotype causes ruby or blenheim because it masks the at/at genotype. Cavaliers with an e/e genotype and no white markings are called ruby, but those with white markings are called blenheim instead of ruby-and-white. Cavaliers that are black-and-tan with white markings are tricolor. White markings are inherited as an automosomal recessive so dogs with white must be sp/sp. Cavaliers in most countries are not brown. If pertinent, they could be tested for the b alleles at additional charge of $20.00. |
