Infectious DNA Testing for Avian Species
HealthGene Laboratory offers a wide array of diagnostic tests for infectious pathogens including viruses, diseases, parasites, and many other illnesses. Doctors using our services have the option of conducting one test at time or selecting from a list of DNA profiles. Furthermore, as we understand, it is extremely difficult to determine the gender of bird. As a solution to this problem we have developed a DNA sexing test and it has become one of our most popular tests. Samples for sexing, unlike those submitted for infectious diseases, do not need to be submitted through a veterinarian. It is possible to obtain DNA from egg shell, feathers, or blood cards. Click here to order your very own home sample collection kit.
Each DNA profile offers a combination of diagnostic tests uniquely designed to target the DNA of multiple infectious organisms known to cause specific symptoms at a given site of infection (for example, ARP1 – Avian Respiratory Profile) or known to be common for the species tested in instances of profiles for general screening (for example, AVP2 – Avian General Profile). Each infectious species listed in all profile have been carefully selected based on research and documented evidence showing its association with a specific set of symptoms or site of infection. This approach is unique to HealthGene Laboratory. DNA profiles offer an economical solution to conducting several diagnostic tests at once and are considered essential by many specialists in veterinary and pet industry.
